Gin

This is our gin NZ selection, including London dry styles, contemporary botanical gins and flavoured bottles made here and around the world. We stock local craft labels and classic profiles, with bottles ranging in size and flavour. New Zealand gin producers often work with native botanicals alongside traditional juniper, and flavoured gin covers pink, citrus and fruit styles.

Finding Your Bottle

Start with your serve. Classic G&T drinkers do well with Clarity Dry Gin 700ml or the Kiwi-made Lady H Artisan NZ Gin 700ml. For something less traditional, try Hendrick's Gin 1L with its cucumber and rose notes, or the Mediterranean Gin Mare 700ml, made with olive, basil and rosemary. If you want a larger everyday bottle, Greenalls Gin 1L is a solid choice. Flavoured gin NZ styles like Malfy Rosa Gin work brilliantly with soda or in simple cocktails.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is gin made from?

Gin is a neutral grain or grape spirit that is redistilled or infused with juniper berries, which must be the main flavour. Other botanicals such as coriander seed, angelica root, citrus peel, orris and herbs add character. London dry gin gets all its flavour during distillation, with nothing added afterwards except water.

What is the difference between London dry gin and other gins?

London dry gin is a production style, not a place. All botanicals must be added during distillation, and only water and a tiny amount of sugar can be added after. That gives a crisp, juniper-led taste. Contemporary and flavoured gins can add colour, sweetness or flavour after distilling.

What goes well with gin?

Tonic water is the classic mixer, with a slice of lime, lemon or cucumber depending on the gin. Gin also works with soda water, ginger ale and fresh citrus. For cocktails, try a Martini, Negroni, Tom Collins, Gimlet or French 75, which all let the botanicals show through.

Does gin go bad?

Unopened gin keeps its quality for many years because its high alcohol content stops it spoiling. Once opened, it stays good for a year or more if the cap is tight and the bottle is stored away from light and heat. Over time the delicate citrus and floral notes slowly fade.
