Taylor's is a Port house founded in 1692, making it one of the oldest of the founding Port shippers. Its wines are aged in lodges at Vila Nova de Gaia, across the Douro River from Porto, and the company is part of The Fladgate Partnership.
Unlike many wine producers, Taylor's makes only Port, from ruby and white styles through to aged tawnies and vintage wines.
The Taylor's Port Range at Liquor Club
We stock four Taylor's Ports in 750ml bottles. Taylor's Fine Ruby is the youngest and fruitiest red style. Taylor's First Estate is a reserve ruby with deeper blackcurrant, plum and liquorice. Taylor's Chip Dry is an extra dry white Port with almond and citrus notes. Taylor's Historical Collection Mallet is a blend of tawny Ports, showing butterscotch, fig and coffee, in a bottle shaped like the mallet bottles of the 1700s. How to Enjoy Taylor's Port
Chip Dry is the one to open before dinner. Mix it with tonic water over plenty of ice and add a slice of lemon or a mint sprig for a Portonic, or serve it chilled with salted almonds. After dinner, pour the Fine Ruby or First Estate with blue cheese or a chocolate tart. The Mallet suits slightly cool sipping alongside crème brûlée, walnuts or a hard cheese.

Pick Chip Dry for aperitifs and long drinks, a ruby for rich fruit with dessert, or the Mallet for a nutty tawny style.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does First Estate refer to?
It honours the first Douro property Taylor's bought, in 1744. The reserve ruby was created to celebrate that purchase.
Where does the name Chip Dry come from?
It comes from the old English saying "dry as a chip". Taylor's first blended Chip Dry in 1934 as a dry white aperitif Port.
What is the Historical Collection?
It is a series of limited releases presented in replicas of bottle shapes from different eras of Port history. The Mallet is the third in the series.
How is ruby Port different from tawny Port?
Ruby styles are aged mainly in large vats to keep their red fruit. Tawny styles age longer in small casks, gaining nutty, caramel flavours.
