Description
Ara Zero Rosé is a Marlborough rosé from Ara Wines with the alcohol taken out, listed at less than 0.5% alcohol. It is made as a full-strength rosé first, then the alcohol is gently removed, so it keeps the flavour of a Marlborough rosé in a much lighter glass.

Ara grows its fruit in Marlborough, at the top of the South Island. After harvest the team makes a complete rosé at normal strength, then uses spinning cone technology to separate out the aroma and the alcohol. The aroma is returned to the wine, leaving a rosé with the alcohol removed rather than a grape drink made to taste like wine.
That process matters because most of a wine’s flavour is built during fermentation. Starting with a real wine gives Ara Zero Rosé more structure and freshness than many low-alcohol alternatives. It suits rosé drinkers who are cutting back, or anyone who wants to share a bottle at the table without the alcohol of a regular wine.
Ara’s own tasting notes:
Palate: strawberry, lime and guava with crisp citrus, finishing dry and fresh with tropical and berry notes
Serve it well chilled, around 6 to 8°C, in a white wine glass. It works on its own as an aperitif or with a platter, prawns, salmon, Thai salads or soft cheeses. Once opened, put the screwcap back on, keep the bottle in the fridge and drink it within a couple of days, as wines with the alcohol removed lose freshness faster than regular wine.
