Broken Shed began in a shed on the shores of Lake Wanaka, when two friends set out to make their own vodka. Instead of grain or potato they chose whey, a natural product of New Zealand’s dairy industry. After three distillations, the spirit is blended with two waters: mineral-rich South Island aquifer water, which the brand says is around 15,000 years old, and filtered North Island spring water. Broken Shed also says it is made without GMOs and is gluten-free at every step.
