Dan Aykroyd, the actor, started Crystal Head with the painter John Alexander, and its vodka has always come in a glass skull. This white skull was first released in 2019 as a limited North American release and returned for Halloween 2023 in a limited run, with an opaque, chalky white coating in place of the usual clear glass.

The vodka is distilled in Canada from a sweet corn variety called peaches and cream, then cut with water from Newfoundland. It is distilled four times, and then passed through filters seven times. Three of those passes go through Herkimer diamonds, a type of quartz mined in upstate New York. Crystal Head says the vodka contains no additives. The corn base lends a rounder, gently sweet feel next to most wheat or rye vodkas.
