Pasqua Desire Lush & Zin Primitivo

This Primitivo opens with intense ripe plum and dark red fruit on the nose, layered with black pepper, cinnamon, vanilla, coffee and cocoa. The palate is warm and full-bodied with exuberant acidity balancing soft, velvety tannins and persistent ripe fruit flavours. The finish is smooth and engaging with lingering spice and dark fruit notes.

This wine is produced by Pasqua Vigneti e Cantine in Puglia, the sun-drenched southern region of Italy. It's made from 100% Primitivo grapes grown in this warm Mediterranean climate, which contributes to the wine's characteristic ripeness and bold fruit character. Chief winemaker Giovanni Nordera oversees production at 13.5% ABV.

This full-bodied Primitivo pairs beautifully with grilled meats, rich tomato-based pasta dishes, and aged Mediterranean cheeses. The wine's ripe fruit and soft tannins complement beef, venison, and robust Italian cuisine. Its warmth and spice notes also work well with herb-roasted chicken and vegetable dishes featuring olive oil and garlic.

The wine's bold fruit and warming spice profile makes it ideal for hearty Mediterranean fare including grilled lamb, braised beef ragu over pappardelle, and wood-fired pizza with cured meats. It also complements aged Pecorino or Parmigiano-Reggiano cheeses. The soft tannins won't overpower dishes with tomato or garlic-forward sauces.

Serve this Primitivo at 16-18°C in a standard red wine glass to allow the aromatic complexity to develop fully. This slightly cooler than room temperature serving helps balance the wine's natural warmth and alcoholic richness while showcasing the layered spice and fruit notes. No decanting is necessary for immediate enjoyment.
