Tamnavulin’s range is built on the idea of single malt with two layers of flavour, which the distillery sums up as “Single Malt, Double Flavour”. Every bottling is matured in two different casks. The base is the same smooth, fruity Speyside spirit, and the second cask sets each edition apart. Alongside this French Cabernet Sauvignon edition the core collection includes Double Cask, Sherry Cask and other wine cask finishes, such as American Cabernet Sauvignon, German Pinot Noir and Spanish Grenache. Tamnavulin describes the French Cabernet edition as having elegant, refined red wine flavours, a gentler style than its bolder American Cabernet sibling.

The wine casks add colour and red fruit character on top of the softer sweetness that comes from the American oak. At 40% it stays light and easy to sip, with no peat smoke.
