Description
Ara Zero Sauvignon Blanc is an alcohol-removed Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from Ara Wines in the Wairau Valley. Ara makes it as a full-strength wine first, then takes the alcohol out with spinning cone technology. Ara states it contains not more than 0.5% alc/vol.

Ara has been making wine in Marlborough for more than twenty years, and Zero sits alongside its Single Estate range. The grapes are grown for a full season and made into a regular Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The spinning cone then gently removes the aroma and the alcohol at low temperatures to protect the wine’s flavour. Ara adds the captured aroma back into the alcohol-removed wine, along with a small amount of Sauvignon Blanc grape juice to give it a fuller, juicier feel. The wine is certified vegan-friendly by the UK Vegetarian Society.
Ara’s own tasting notes:
Nose: Classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc notes of tropical fruit and grapefruit.
Palate: Layers of passionfruit and pineapple, balancing fruit sweetness with a juicy texture.
Finish: Crisp and dry.
It is lighter than a full-strength Sauvignon Blanc, so Ara suggests tasting it before any full-strength wine and giving your palate a glass to adjust. It suits anyone who wants the flavour of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with dinner or a long lunch while choosing not to drink alcohol.
Make sure the bottle is well chilled, around 6 to 8°C, and pour into a standard white wine glass. Ara recommends it with platters, an Italian chopped salad or a lemon asparagus pasta. Reseal and refrigerate after opening, and finish it within a couple of days for the freshest flavour.
